Breast augmentation is one of the most commonly performed surgeries in our specialty. Suitable when the patient has little breast volume and no sagging skin.
When there is some degree of asymmetry between the breasts, we can opt for implants of different sizes.
When there is asymmetry between the areolas, a complementary procedure may be recommended, involving scarring around them.
Silicone implants can be placed above or below the muscle, depending on the patient’s existing breast volume.
If you have little volume, the best option is to insert the implant underneath the muscles, which acts as a greater camouflage and avoids the “rippling” (visible ripples that show that the implant is barely covered by the gland, with practically only the skin covering it) effect.
A more natural adaptation
In particular, I have adopted the submuscular plane (Dual Plane) in most cases, with an incision in the submammary fold. In this method, the implant is partially covered by the muscle, with the lower pole free, providing a smoother transition to the chest and a more natural fit.
The volume is chosen by measuring the base of the breast so that the fit does not exceed the anatomical limits of the breasts, thus avoiding symmastia (when a “bridge” of tissue forms between the two breasts, giving the impression that the breasts are “glued” together) and lateral displacement.
The “internal bra” technique is nothing more than fixing the new submammary sulcus, in order to prevent the implants from shifting inferiorly (“bottoming out effect”).
The rapid recovery technique (R24R) is applied using specific instruments, as well as a surgical and anaesthetic technique that seeks to minimize bleeding.
Early arm exercises are a fundamental step in relaxing the muscles.
This way, the arms can be raised immediately, allowing you to return to work and everyday activities the very next day.
The silicone implants used are authorized by ANVISA and have a soft, highly cohesive gel. This means that in the event of a rupture accident, most of the gel will remain attached, preventing it from spreading throughout the body, as used to happen with the inadvertent use of industrial silicone.

Yes, augmentation mammoplasty is the medical term for breast augmentation or breast implants.
Although there is no longer a defined expiration date, there is no eternal guarantee of the integrity of the implants, according to the manufacturing companies themselves.
